My body is not my home
Odile Malet (Université Libre de Bruxelles)
Sediments Festival

This home is labyrinthic; all these weird voices in the attic, stairways leading nowhere, and some whispers say that whole rooms have been scrubbed away…

My body is not my home is an on-going exploration of body horror through a queer lens, for now taking the form of a collection of texts, videos and sound creations. In a haunted/barely there/too alive house, bodies transform, mutate, contaminate; they go through surgery, panic, shit and bleed — and forget too much of it in the process. But is it the bodies or the house that are monstrous? Can body horror be used to reclaim agency over our bodies and stories? Where’s the kitchen again? We can’t seem to remember…

My body is not my home examines the complex layers of the physical and symbolic body. Featuring an artistic performance paired with interactive workshops and exercises all presented within a single slot, the piece provides an engaging and thought-provoking queer perspective and promises to enrich the festival’s program both in content and form.”
