Heart and Breath
part of FREISPIEL 2024: Shifting Futures
Junge Deutsche Philharmonie

The Late-Night-Concert places the focus on our inner perception. The central work is Music for Heart and Breath by the Canadian multi-instrumentalist Richard Reed Parry, best known as a member of the celebrated band Arcade Fire. The musicians will be performing with sensors according to their own heart pulse. Further chamber music works complete the program. The hall is transformed into a relax-lounge where the audience is invited to relax and pause for a moment.

Programme
Pauline Oliveros (1932–2016): Tuning Meditation
John Dowland (1563–1626): Flow my Tears arr. for String Quartett
Richard Reed Parry (born 1977): Music for Heart and Breath
Philip Glass (born 1937): Quartet Satz (2017), commissioned for Fifty for the Future: The Kronos Learning Repertoire, a project of the Kronos Performing Arts Association
Erik Satie (1866–1925): Gnossiennes No. 2
