In this open movement score we will play with our imagination. Laura Ahumada Garcia (dance artist, educator & choreographer) and Pihla Jaala (dance artist, educator & social educator) will guide you through durational improvisation, where you can jump in and out spontaneously. Inspired by the Eastern philosophical notion of 空 (kuu), this practice is built on a holistic understanding of the ‘bodymind’ with its interconnectedness to space. It values feeling and seeks to tap into the sensorial experience to train one’s sensitivity to the inner and outer dynamics, to explore the relation and discover the endless possibilities of movement and expression. Through guided improvisation, we will physically and somatically explore the body-self as space, in search of one’s first person experience beyond the notion of “body” as is constructed, and work toward an open, clear, free state of being. Curiosity and a will to drive one’s own experience are required.
