How Free is Art?
– How Free are Organizers?
Ensemble Modern
Art and culture in times of social upheaval
In the discursive concert series “How free is art?”, the Ensemble Modern is dedicated to the topic of artistic freedom and its limits. Together with experts from various disciplines, we will examine how free and independent art can be today in times of social upheaval and challenges. The central questions are: What is art allowed to do? What are their limits? What responsibility does she have? And how inviolable is the right to artistic freedom? These pressing cultural and socio-political questions are illuminated through moderated discussions and the performance of appropriate musical works. The series approaches the topic from the perspective of the organizers, the ensembles and the composers. The series of events takes place in Frankfurt am Main and Cologne.
