You're sitting at the flat share casting and you know: they're not going to take you. Something is off. The mood changes. Should you not have said that last thing? Now they think you're weird. Nod, smile, stay silent – is that so hard? But then again: did you really say anything bad? Maybe they don't like you for completely different reasons. Maybe you're just imagining it all. You never know.

The sensible thing is: tolerance must be intolerant of intolerance. That sounds reasonable. Who decides what is intolerant? And how do you deal with those you consider intolerant?

The mechanisms of belonging are brutal. Always.
