Fashioning the Orchestra
part of FREISPIEL 2024: Shifting Futures
Junge Deutsche Philharmonie

FASHIONING THE ORCHESTRA invites you to a musical journey from the Baroque to the present time, coupled with a fashion performance. To complement the musical transformation, the orchestra transforms its outward appearance and plays with fashion-elements created from recycled materials by the young fashion designer Kaja Busch. FASHIONING THE ORCHESTRA questions our viewing and listening habits: How many breaks with tradition can audiences and musicians be expected to accept?

Giovanni Gabrieli (1554–1612): Canzona per sonare Nr. 2 „Fanfare“
Johann Sebastian Bach (1685–1750): Orchestersuite Nr. 3 – 2. Movement „Air“
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756–1791): Symphony Nr. 41 KV 551 – 4. Molto Allegro
Franz Schubert (1797–1828): Symphony B-Minor „Unfinished Symphony“ D 759 – 1. Movement
Arnold Schönberg (1874–1951): Chamber Symphony Nr. 2 op. 38
Ellen Reid (born 1983): Floodplain
