„Das Tierreich“
Ensembleprojekt des 2. Jahrgangs Schauspiel
It's summer in a small German town and 21 young people - as well as a not entirely unimportant chinchilla - are setting off on vacation as if they were heading for great freedom. Against the backdrop of the calm holiday atmosphere, a panorama of growing up unfolds. Almost everything that life has to offer seems to find space in changing constellations and short scenes: everyday trivialities and fundamental philosophical questions, big feelings and romantic aberrations, daily politics and German history. When fate strikes - here in the form of a Leopard II tank falling on the school and a fatal accident - the carefree nature of summer is put to the test.
Jakob Nolte and Michel Decar both studied at the Berlin University of the Arts. Their
pieces deal with contemporary topics and connections in mostly bizarre, original scenarios, which are often made visible through exaggeration and encourage further thought. In this sense, the play “Das Tierreich" is not only a clever, fast-paced coming-of-age drama, but also reflects the big questions of life in a humorous and thoughtful way: Who are we? Why are we the way we are? And why do we often want to be someone else? - Their works have received several awards, including the Brothers Grimm Prize of the State of Berlin (2013) and the Literature Art Prize (2016), and have been performed on major stages, including the Deutsches Theater in Berlin.
Prof. MartinNeighbor and Prof. Werner Wölbern will realize this ensemble piece. Sarah Schimke is responsible for the equipment. Philipp Weigand will accompany the ensemble as a speaking teacher.
