Michał Borczuch / Nowy Teatr: Cinema of Moral Anxiety

A mid-19th century American drop-out, fleeing civilisation. A Polish amateur filmmaker, who only wanted to record the birth of his child on Super 8 end of the 1970’s and suddenly encountered the political powers of his camera. Teenage flâneurs somewhere between Netflix, Snapchat and European Union, ageing actors with wiry bodies and failing claims to restitution: in this dynamic, concentrated theatre performance, the stage is a highway on which people and eras constantly meet, just as much inspired by Henry David Thoreau’s “Walden”, as by the early films of Krzysztof Kieślowski. The characters speed up, slow down or pause, as time becomes space. They keep asking themselves: How do we want
to live together, and did we even want to live together, or do we still want to live together?
