Doris Uhlich
Habitat

Doris Uhlich, spotlight artist of this year's Tanzfestival Rhein-Main, is a body researcher. The Austrian choreographer has her own unique way of discovering the energy, beauty and power that lies dormant in every body and she knows how to give space to all its manifold dynamics. This is especially challenging in times of corona. For her extraordinary piece "Habitat", a version of which is currently being specially developed for Frankfurt, Uhlich nevertheless does not allow herself to be distracted by hygiene regulations and physical distancing in the creation of a utopian space for twenty naked bodies and the audience. How can multiple bodies currently animate a space together? Where can they find suitable living space, a habitat? Doris Uhlich approaches this task carefully. The result is an amusing and at the same time touching choreography full of unexpected life forms, which celebrates unity in diversity and defies conventional ideas about the body and about dance.
